SUMMARY OF MAIN DISSEMINATION EVENTS

  • March 8th, 2023. Following the March 7th event at Abdelhamid Ibn Badis University in Mostaganem, El Hayat TV broadcasted a news on the event, highlighting the developed technologies for irrigation optimization targeting smallholders.
  • March 7th, 2023. Pr M. Benkhelifa (UMAB) and his team organize an awareness-raising event in at Abdelhamid Ibn Badis University in Mostaganem, Algeria, with support of local stakeholders and the presence of their representatives: Mostaganem DSA (Direction des Services Agricoles), Direction de l’Hydrolique, Mostaganem Chamber of Agriculture and Mostaganem association of vegetable crop farmers. A live demo of the INTEL-IRRIS starter-kit on a small-scale irrigation test-bed will show how real-time soil humidity can help smallholders in their irrigation decision.

  • Dec. 21st, 2022. Pr B. Kechar from UORAN1 was invited by the Oran radio broadcast EL-BAHIA for the radio program “Terre de bonté” ( “أرض الخير” in arab) to present the INTEL-IRRIS project and to give more details on the starter-kit that will be deployed in piloting farms.
  • Dec. 14th, 2022. UORAN1 team lead by Pr Bouabdellah Kechar organized the awareness-raising event on “Innovative low cost technologies for a modern and sustainable agriculture in Algeria” at the PACHA hotel & conference center to bring together researchers, farmers, stakeholders and local agencies from Oran and Mostaganem area. Several R&D initiatives have been presented, including INTEL-IRRIS project where a live demo of the proposed starter-kit for irrigation optimization has been performed in front of many farmers and smallholders

INTEL-IRRIS PCB v3!

INTEL-IRRIS PCB v3 will be ready very shortly! It is designed by IRD with the INTEL-IRRIS’s low-cost & low-complexity approach in mind where solar charging feature can be added with minimal electronic components. In sync with the low-cost sensing platform v3 where the soil device with 2 tensiometers and 1 soil temperature sensor will be introduced in the starter-kit, the PCB v3 will make the assembling much easier by local partners and third-parties!

THE INTEL-IRRIS IRRIGATION WAZIAPP (IIWA) HAS A NEW USER INTERFACE!

The INTEL-IRRIS Irrigation WaziApp (IIWA) developed by WAZIUP and UPPA is the core of the embedded intelligence brought to the INTEL-IRRIS starter-kit. After several design thinking meetings, IIWA has a new user interface with more intuitive visualization of the soil condition. The parameter section has also several improvements, separating parameters in a “basic” and an “advanced” view to better adapt the complexity to the final users.

THE INTEL-IRRIS CODING CHALLENGE & COMPETITION FOR ENTREPRENEURS, STARTUPS AND YOUNG TECH ENTHUSIATS!

INTEL-IRRIS is launching the coding challenge for engaging young developers! The current IIWA application described above is the perfect skeleton where new contributions can be easily integrated. The purpose of the coding challenge is to improve IIWA application in one of the following category:

  • Categoty 1: User Graphical Interface
  • Categoty 2: Calibration of sensor data
  • Categoty 3: Processing & transformation of sensor data
  • Categoty 4: Integration of agriculture data & knowledge

The coding challenge will end on July 31st, 2023. More details and instructions for registration can be found on the INTEL-IRRIS coding challenge web page: https://intel-irris.eu/intel-irris-challenge
